Libya is a large country with a small population, rich in natural resources, the most important of which is its diaspora. We believe Libyan-Americans can play a crucial role in helping to develop Libya economically, opening the country up to US business, and assisting in its democratic transition. It is in the interests of US national security and the Libyan people to strengthen ties with the diaspora.
To this end, the Libyan-American Coalition is launching a 30 under 30 network. Thirty Libyan-Americans of diverse and exceptional backgrounds will gather in Washington DC for a series of roundtable discussions and seminars on the role they can play in advancing Libya’s stability and democratic transition.
The Libyan-American Coalition will sponsor a trip to North Africa for these young professionals to engage with their Libyan peers from civil society and the private sector to discuss how they can cooperate to drive Libya’s transition to a democratic, free, and open-market country.
